Mish Mash Challenge: Card or Board Game

Hello cupcakes!!

Can I just say that I am super pumped that I'm actually getting this post up on time ;) I hope you are all having a wonderful Wednesday and maybe preparing for Thanksgiving tomorrow?? All I know is I'm SO ready to stuff my face with some turkey and all the fixings!! LOL!

Anyways on to the mish mash challenge! Today's theme is card or board game. I really wanted to do some Sorry nails but I was multitasking when I was doing these trying to figure out my Thanksgiving nails so I went with something a little easier: LIFE nails :) Now I've never actually played the game LIFE but the cover of the board game was super pretty and I instantly knew what I wanted to do.

I started this design with a gradient of Azature White and Orly Gumdrop on all of my nails besides my thumb. On my thumb I started with a base of Lime Crime Crema de Limon. All of the other details were painted on using acrylic paint. I used Poshe as a top coat and I was finished!

I ended up really liking this design. It's simple and really colorful! And not that the game has anything to do with it, I like it too because I'm finally getting my life back in order and it's kind of a bright little happy message on my nails :)

I hope you all have a wonderful day! I'm going to start working on my Thanksgiving nails shortly after I post this so look for some awesome nails on the blog tomorrow ;) And while you're here make sure you check out everyone else's card or board game nails!!

See ya later loves!

Neon tribal

Hello dears!

I'm not going to lie... I'm extremely jealous of anyone who can do a tribal nail... like I can't even handle it! Lol! But! I've been practicing and I think I'm improving! Improving enough to show you guys my attempt anyways ;) I'm not sure why exactly I used neon colors, I just kind of picked three colors I liked together and they just so happened to all be neon coincidence?! I don't think so!

I started off with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. Then I took China Glaze I'm With the Lifeguard, Nina Ultra Pro Blue Blaze, and Orly Highlighter and blocked off my nails. After that I took my smallest striping brush and outlined and doodled with some black acrylic paint. I top coated with Poshe and I was done!

Since I love mattifying neons I was dying to see what these looked like mattified. I used NYC Matte Me Crazy below:

I'm not sure which way I like it better... I really love neons mattified but there's just something about that shine that stands out to me ;) Which way do you guys prefer?

Thanks so much loves :)

Inspiration Nation: Glitter Tips

Hey chickies!

Ready for another Inspiration Nation post? My inspiration this time comes from another blogger that I follow like... religiously lol! She's super sweet and her nails are always flawless! Not to mention she's so talented!! I'm talking about the lovely Marta from Chit Chat nails :) Marta is pretty well known for her skittlette manis but she does something else that I really love.. faded glitter tips! She's done a bunch of them and every time I see one I drool all over my keyboard! She's actally written up a tutorial for how she does them too.

To start this mani I did two coats of an unnamed sheer pink polish... It was just one of those weird ones I got in a package at some store. But it works great to make my nails look unstained so I'll take it! ;) Then I took a make up sponge and ripped it in half so I had a little bit of a jagged edge. I do this so the color gradient part isn't such a straight, cut off line. Then I did the gradient tip with Zoya Zuza, a beautiful shimmery teal. When that was dry it took Orly Mermaid Tale and placed the glitter from the tip of my nail all the way to the middle. Finish off with some top coat and you're good to go!

Not only is the final result super pretty but it's actually really easy and not time consuming. Tips like these will definitely be making a repeat appearance on Pink & Polished so I hope you like them! ;)

Thanks loves!

Inspiration Nation: Purple Waterfall

Hi cupcakes :)

I've got another Inspiration Nation post for you all today. I really really enjoy looking at all of the beautiful and creative nail art that's circling the interwebz. Everyone has their own style and own amazing ideas. The best part of not know what to do on my nails is having the advantage of looking around... I mean seriously all you have to do is type in nails to google and you get 73895794379 million results. It's amazing!

I've got a bunch of blogs that I follow.. and I always love finding new ones so if you've got a blog you want me to know about here's your chance! Let me know in the comments what it is and I'll be sure to head right over :)

Anyways, one of the very first blogs I ever followed was Sammy at The Nailasaurus. She is one of the reasons I fell in love with nail art, her designs are just so damn good! Recently she did a new type of nail art which she calls the waterfall, I won't try to explain it to you because she put up a really great tutorial which you can see HERE, but basically you take your nail art brush and do simple, quick strokes from the nail bed towards the tip and it creates a waterfall-esque effect. It's quite stunning. So she's where I take my inspiration from today because I've tried some waterfall nails of my own!

To get this look I started with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and then painted two coats of ORLY Glowstick and then used Lime Crime Lavendairy, Maybelline Color Show Iced Queen, Maybelline Color Show Plum Paradise, and Sally Hansen Golden-I for the stripes.

It's not nearly as crisp as any of hers but I'd say it's a pretty solid first try ;) I really love the effect though, it's so simple really but it can look so complex at the same time. Oooh look at me getting all deep and stuff! LOL But really, I know I'll be revisiting this nail art soon because it's addicting!

Don't forget to tell me about your blogs guys! I don't usually allow links in my comments but link away today!! :)

Thanks so much chickies

Mint Manis for Talia Joy

Good morning guys!

Or morning for me anyways.

If you missed my post the other day I'll just recap a bit. Today is a special day in the nail community, on Tuesday, July 16th, we all lost a beautiful girl named Talia. Talia was an inspiration to the beauty community. She was a very special 13 year old girl who was battling two forms of cancer: neuroblastoma and preleukemia. Despite her challenges she put a smile on her face every day and brought beautiful makeup and nail tutorials to us all. She was truly the strongest girl I've ever had the honor to know and so very amazing at everything she did.

Today, July 19th, the nail community has banded together to bring mint manis to honor miss Talia Joy. The last photo she posted on instagram was of a mint mani and the wonderful Nicole from Nail Polish Wars thought it would be great for all of us to show our mint manis for Talia. I think that's and absolutely amazing idea. So here's my mint mani for the beautiful little girl who was stronger then anyone.

I started with a base of ORLY Gumdrop and did a glitter gradient using ORLY Sparkling Garbage on my thumb, pointer, middle, and pinky nails. I also put a little rhinestone at the base of each of those nails. On my ring I did two full coats of ORLY Sparkling Garbage and stamped over it with a little bow from BM-317 with L.A Colors striping polish in black

I really love how these came out, soft and sweet.

For anyone wanting to participate today the hashtag is #mintmanisfortaliajoy. This is for Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram, etc.

If anyone want to link their blogs up you can pick up the inlinkz code right HERE. But don't forget to add your name in the actual inlinkz!

I can't wait to see everyone's love for Talia Joy and her friends and family. Rest in peace beautiful angel and make sure you show all those angels up there how to do their makeup and nails!

Thanks so much for reading guys. :)

Give me some Sparkling Garbage stripes

Hey guys!

For once you guys are actually getting to see my current nails! I just did these and love them so much that I just couldn't wait to show you all. A few days ago I headed to my local Sally's to pick of some more nail files... you know I couldn't resist perusing the polish area though and I came upon an absolutely stunning polish from Orly. So I grabbed it to find out what it was a literally laughed out loud at the name... Sparkling Garbage. I mean could it get any more perfect then that? LOVE it! Seriously thinking about heading back and grabbing a few back up bottles because I see myself using this one a lot ;)

Anyways I finally got a chance to try it out today and boy, it didn't disappoint! I only used it as an accent here but I see a full Sparkling Garbage mani in the very near future! I started with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls on my pointer, middle, and pinky nails, seriously my favorite greyish white! Then I used some striping tape and painted Orly Gumdrop on top of MBSW. On my ring and thumb I had a base of Orly Gumdrop and did two coats of Orly Sparkling Garbage over that. Check these babies out!

Look at that bottle shot! Yummy!

And here's a super blurred shot to show you all the gorgeousness that is Sparkling Garbage.

This. Is. Perfection. Haha you all must think I'm way crazy by now but I just can't get enough of this polish! Beautiful with an awesome name to boot!

What do you guys think? Do you love the sparkle?!

Glitter gradient take two!

Good morning guys!

I hope everyone's Saturday went well! I was running around like a crazy person... not exactly sure why but it happens far too often -_- lol! But the good news is I did end up getting most of the stuff I needed for my 1,000 GFC follower giveaway which I should be posting within the next couple of days I just need a few more things!

So you want to know about the nails now don't you?! I decided to try doing a glitter gradient again because I got some new glitter polish ;) LOL I used the amazing Lucy from Lucy's Stash's tutorial to do it and I think it turned out even better then last time! Take a look :)

Colors used:
- Lime Crime Milky Ways
- Orly Bubbly Bombshell

I still need to work on the whole getting sparse-er as the glitter goes down the nail but I would venture to say that this was pretty successful!

So what do you think?

Thanks for reading :)

Momma nails to the rescue!

Hi guys!

So I totally didn't have any time last night to paint my nails T.T I'm so glad I have a few pictures saved up for just this occasion so today you will be seeing some more of my momma's nails!

I think I told you all this before but my mom is the DBA for an elderly home and the other night she was taking her secretaries out for dinner and a meeting and she wanted something fun and work appropriate at the same time with a little Halloween mixed in for good measure ;)

I figured an accent nail would be subtle enough for her so I started by painting all of her nails black and then on all but the ring fingers I put a layer of Pure Ice Heartbreaker over the black and Oh. My. God. was it beautiful!! I'm new to the whole layering thing and I'm experimenting with all different colors. This one is definitely a keeper though it's so pretty! For the accent nail I pulled inspiration again from the Youtuber I follow: IHaveACupcake, if you guys haven't checked out her channel yet I highly recommend it she's awesome! And I came out with this design check it out! :)

Colors used:
- Sally Hansen Black Out
- Orly Decades of Dysfunction
- Pure Ice Heartbreaker
- Black Acrylic Paint
- White Acrylic Paint

Look at that green shimmer <3

So gorgeous right?! I love her accent nail with the little.... Elvira I think? I think that's who that is LOL

What do you guys think??

Thanks for reading :)
