Ruffian with a neon twist

Haaaaaaaaaaappy Monday!

Another week is beginning and I couldn't be more excited! I'm finally officially starting my new job and it feels like I've been waiting for this forever! So this calls for some bright and fun nails! I haven't done a ruffian design in a while so I think it's high time to change that.

I started with a base of Lime Crime Once In A Blue Mousse and when it dried I created the ruffian using Color Club Over the Moon. Then I took a small nail art brush and used it to outline the ruffian using China Glaze Pool Party. To finish it off I sealed it all in with some Seche Vite

I so loved these nails! The holo and neon and pastel come together to make the yummiest combination. Don't you think?

What about you guys, what's your favorite ruffian color combination?

Thanks for stopping by! Talk to you tomorrow!
Thanks loves :)

31DC2014 Day 18: Half Moons

Day 18 of the 31 Day Challenge 2014 is half moons and I was so excited for this prompt!

I had this great idea in my head to combine a half moon manicure with an outline technique and the end result is awesome if you ask me ;)

Alright I started off with a base of Color Club Look, Don't Tusk. When it dried I created the half moon with a small nail art brush and Lime Crime Parfait Day. When all of that dried I outlined everything with the same brush and China Glaze Pool Party. I sealed it all in with Essie Good To Go and the design was finished.

I just love when an idea works out, it doesn't always happen for me but when it does you better believe I do a pretty fantastic happy dance ;) LOL

Okay guys it's your turn! Post a link to your 31DC2014 half moon nails in the comments so I can see!

31DC2014 Day 11: Polka Dots

 Hey guys!

Well we've made it to the second part of the challenge: styles! Yay! Now it's time for some more interesting nail art! And what better way to start it off then with day 11: polka dots!!

Wanna see what I did?

I started this design with a base of Color Club Look, Don't Tusk. Then I took a toothpick and one of my dotting tools to create my dots with black acrylic paint, China Glaze Pool Party, and China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise. When the dots dried I topped it all off with Essie Good To Go

I really enjoyed this design, I've never done random, dotted designs like this before but it turned out exactly how I pictured it would! *happy dance*

Okay guys it's your turn! Post a link to your 31 Day Challenge polka dotted nails in the comments so I can see them!

Bright bleached neon bubblegum pink creme. Formula was super smooth and swatches are three thin coats with top coat.

Bleached neon peach / melon creme. Formula was super smooth and swatches are three thin coats with top coat.

Bleached neon violet creme. Formula was the same as the others and this is three thin coats with top coat.

Gorgeous glitter topper containing violet hex, small pink hex, tiny yellow and green hex, and pink bar glitters suspended in a clear base. Formula is a bit thick because of the glitter but that is to be expected. I chose to do two coats applied with a makeup sponge over Malibu Melon.

Neon French Manicure with China Glaze Pool Party

You know what really bothers me? When I'm running out of a particular polish that I love and go to buy a new one only to find that it's been completely reformulated!!

Now I've heard that China Glaze Pool Party had been changed through the grapevine but it still get on my nerves when I just want to original formula! Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore the new color, but I really really loved the old neon pink deliciousness. Ugh.

Oh well though right? I can't tell companies what to do and not to do with their polishes that's their prerogative ;) So now that I've had my little vent sesh let's get on to the nails shall we? I've been loving colored tip french manicures a lot lately and what's better then some neon tips?!

I started off with a base of OPI Bubble Bath, the perfect base for a french manicure. When it was completely dry I took some reinforcement hole stickers and put them right by my smile line, I went a bit above because I wanted an exaggerated free edge ;) Then I painted China Glaze Pool Party (new formula -_-) over the tip and removed the sticker. I added some China Glaze Fairy Dust on top because I can and I love sparkles! And one coat of Essie Good To Go to seal everything in.

OH! And I made an instagram tutorial video!!!! My second one ever wooooooooooo! So make sure you go follow me @pinkandpolishednails to check it out (You can click the link and it will take you there!)

I really enjoyed the blindingly bright tips, they never failed to capture my attention especially if it was sunny out ;)

What's your favorite color for french tip nails?

Freshly dotted with neon flair

This little blog has most definitely been missing out some dotted designs. That makes me so sad because dotted designs can be so refreshing! They can look sweet and simple or incredibly detailed but one thing stays the same: they are so easy to create!!

So let's get on with these nails!!

I started with a base of Orly Gumdrop on all of my nails. I created the dots with some white acrylic paint, one of my dotting tools, and a toothpick. I sealed in the dots with Essie Good To Go and added a neon pink square stud to each nail from the Born Pretty Store (they can be purchased HERE).

I really really loved this design, I tried to wear it for a long time but sadly the studs decided that they didn't want to stay on for more then a day T.T But I really enjoyed wearing this color combination, I never thought I would like these colors together but I was wrong, they are so fun and I think that they compliment each other quite well.

What's your favorite unexpected color combination?

Summer Neon Gradient and Watermarble

I don't know where you guys are but I live in MA and man, it's been a cold spring! I keep waiting and waiting for that warm weather to no avail. But I think we may have finally gotten past the road block!

Summer is finally here and with the warm weather comes neon nail polish. I don't know what it is about neon polish that just makes you feel so summery but I absolutely love it!

I started with a base of Essie Blanc so my colors would really pop. Then I created the gradient using China Glaze Pool Party and Orly Highlighter. When that dried I created the watermarble over it using Essie Blanc and Maybelline Color Show Clear. I top coated them with Essie Good To Go and just because I love mattifying neons I added NYC Matte Me Crazy over everything. LOVE!

Oh summer how I've missed you so! Please never leave again okay???

What's your favorite season?

Thanks loves :)

Polka-dotted Flying Dragon

Oh. My. GOSH!

Well that was a long.... wait how long was it? Three weeks?! I can't believe I've been away from you guys for that long!!! I feel terrible :( But my nails were complete crap and then I got busy because I went on vacation to Florida for a week. I just got back yesterday so that's why I haven't posted. I had a few posts built up but I didn't have a chance to schedule them before I left. Bah I am the definition of a bad blogger!!

So how about me and you just kinda.... forget this happened huh? ;) LOL

Things should finally be going back to normal around here so let's kick it off with some pretty purple nails!

This look is pretty simple and quick to do. I started with a base of China Glaze Flying Dragon. When that dried I stamped over it using Bundle Monster BM-412 and an unnamed white stamping polish I found at Claire's. I finished it off with some Poshe for a nice shine.

Even though these were real simple I fell in love with them! My nails were still pretty short here but I feel like then pattern made them look longer. Did you ever notice how some designs can do that? Crazy stuff man ;)

I apologize again for disappearing for so long hopefully that doesn't happen again! You guys are the reason I love to blog so I hate disappointing you!

Thanks again so much loves :)

Moon spikes

It's moon time!! Again!

I loved my half moon manicure so much from Valentine's Day I just had to do another! This time I grabbed some neons and went to work!

I started with a base of Essie Blanc and waited for it to dry. When it was dry I taped off my nails and added a hole reinforcer sticker to create the moons. Then I sponged over it using China Glaze Pool Party and China Glaze Orange Knockout. I took some white acrylic paint to create the spikes and black acrylic paint for the dots. I sealed everything in with some Poshe top coat and the design was finished.

I love the unconventional look of the spike-y half moons and the black really stands out against the neons! Watch out for some more fun moons on this blog soon to come! ;)

A Valentine's Day Inspiration Nation

Love is in the air!

Well it always is isn't it? I suppose I'm just looking for an excuse to use pink nail polish, but then again, I don't need one of those either... this blog IS called Pink & Polished riiiiight?! ;)

Details, details...

Anyways! I think it's about time for another inspiration nation post, I've been inspired by the extremely talented Lucy from Lucy's Stash time and time again and when she posted her Valentine's Day Dotted Swirl Nails I knew I had to give it a whirl! She even posted a tutorial video with some really helpful hints like how to get perfect swirls... I really recommend you watch it, it's so helpful!

So I started this look off with a base of OPI Chic From Ears To Tail on all of my nails. When that was dry I created the dotted swirls using Essie Blanc, China Glaze Pool Party, and a dotting tool. I sealed it all in with some Poshe top coat and fell in love!

Okay so, I absolutely love this design BUT these pinks do something to my camera that she just can't handle! I don't know if it's the neon-ness of CG Pool Party or just the fact that this light pink doesn't work with my skin tone... either way it looks like I did some nail art on a dead hand so I'm sorry for that ;( LOL But you'll just have to believe me it looks so pretty in person! Damn you camera devil!!

Valentine's Day is right around the corner! What are YOU going to wear on your nails?
Thanks chickies :)
