Pink Herringbone

I sure do love a good herringbone design!

So when I saw THIS design on the ever talented Sam from The Nailasaurus I knew I had to bust out the striping tape one more time! I have to confess, I absolutely hate striping tape. 9 times out of 10 I will free hand stripes over using striping tape. But this particular design needs those crisp lines that striping tape can create so I had to suck it up for the love of nail art! ;)

I started off this design with a base of Essie Blanc on my middle and ring finger. Then I taped off one half of the nail and applied the striping tape. I painted over it using Ruby Wing Kitten Heels. I pulled the tape off and did the same thing on the other side. On the rest of my nails I started with a base of China Glaze Too Yacht To Handle and added a layer of HITS Hefesto on top. I top coated everything with Essie Good To Go and the design was finished!

I really enjoyed wearing this design I actually kept it on for 6 days straight! The sweet color combination of the pink and mint coupled with the crisp lines make this one of my favorite designs to date!

Thanks loves :)

Striped Tips

Stripes! Stripes everywhere!!!

I've been struggling with what to paint on my nails lately, I'm not sure where all my creative juices went but they sure ran away from me. *sigh* But never fear! I shall work past this block, it's the only way to get through.

I was experimenting with a few different designs and I came across this striped chevron french tip design that really stuck with me. So I decided to show you ;)

I started with a base of Ruby Wing Silk Sheets. When that dried I painted on the chevron tips with white acrylic paint. I then free handed on the black and purple stripes with acrylic paint. I topped the tips with some China Glaze Fairy Dust and then top coated everything with a generous coat of Essie Good-To-Go

Even though I've been having an artistic block I quite enjoyed this design. Simple, but still fun and colorful.

What about you guys, what do you do when you have a nail art block?

Thanks loves :)

I love nails!

I've decided to take on a new venture.

Often times I find myself sitting down at my desk, getting ready to paint my nails and then.... NOTHING. Absolutely nothing comes to my mush of a brain. And then I sit there, and sit there, and hey, I sit there some more! It gets so frustrating because I just want to paint my nails but for the life of me I can't think of what to paint. So, to solve that problem I've decided that every time I'm lacking "nailspiration" I'm going to take one of my Bundle Monster nail plates and do 5 or so designs using every image on that plate. Difficult? Challenge accepted ;) It's a good way to keep the creative juices flowing and I encourage everyone to try it! My designs won't be solely stamping, just here and there to fill in what my brain can't :)

Now, on to the design! The first plate I picked is BM-401 and what a fitting plate! There's an image on it that says "I <3 nails" and come on, could it get any more perfect?

I started the design off with a base of Ruby Wing Kitten Heels. When that was dry I painted on the nail polish bottles with black acrylic paint and filled them in using China Glaze So Blue Without You, Azature Light Blue, and Color Club Over the Moon. Then I stamped my ring finger with plate BM-401 and Maybelline Color Show Navy Narcissist. I added a generous layer of Poshe to seal everything in.

I really quite enjoyed this look it was super fun and easy and I got so many comments on them LOL!

What do you guys do when you're lacking "nailspiration"?
Thanks loves :)

The incredible, ever-changing water marble featuring Ruby Wing polishes

Whew long title much?! LOL

I have a soft spot in my heart for Ruby Wing polishes, I love the fact that they change color, it really makes for some unique manicures. I had an idea to use some of their new spring line in a water marble and even though the polishes didn't want to spread I managed to get a halfway decent marble out of it :)

I started with a base of Essie Blanc so that the colors from the marble would really pop. When that was dry I created the water marble using Ruby Wing In Your Dreams, Ruby Wing Silk Sheets, and Ruby Wing Kitten Heels. I sealed everything in with some Poshe top coat and waited for the color-changing goodness.

Oh and I thought now would be a good time to show off my ring that my wonderful and thoughtful boyfriend got me for Valentine's Day. It's been getting sized for two weeks now.... thanks mom for giving me tiny baby hands.. I'm a size 5 1/2 LOL! But I love it so much I couldn't help but show it off! I hope you guys don't mind ;)

And here it is after I stuck them under a UV lamp!

I'm so glad this actually came out the way I pictured it! I wish the polishes covered a bit better, but I think I could have fixed that with some more drops, but oh well too late for that now!

Do you guys love color-changing polishes or what??
Thanks loves :)

Ruby Wing Spring 2014 collection: Sweet Fantasy

Bring on the spring! With all these new spring collections I'm really itching for that warmer weather, especially the bright sunshine because these Ruby Wing polishes have Solaractive Technology which means they change color in the UV light! Now come on, tell me you don't want that bright sun now?!

I have swatches of Ruby Wing's spring 2014 collection titled Sweet Fantasy, a collection of six provocative new shades ;) Be warned though, this is a picture heavy post, swatches below are in normal light and after my UV light to show the color change. But what are you waiting for?! Scroll to see some pretties!!

Centerfold is a gorgeous bright pink jelly polish with large black hexagon glitters, medium-large silver hexagon glitters, and small silver hexagon glitters indoors. Outdoors it transforms into a vampy blacked purple and the silver glitters look purple with the base layered over them. This was the most radical change out of all of the polishes and wow I'm in love! It's sweet and innocent indoors and turns vampy and sexy outdoors ;) The formula was tricky as to be expected with glitter polishes such as this. Because it has larger hexagon glitters they tend to clump together a bit so I just took a dotting tool to spread them out on my nail. Also, the larger silver hexagon glitters look to have a small bit of reflective curl but they laid flat on my nails. As long as you work slowly you won't have a problem applying this polish. Below is two coats of Centerfold, the first applied normally for the base color, and the second dabbed on for the glitter coverage. Over that I have two thick coats of top coat, glitter loves to eat top coat so make sure you layer it on good if you want that smooth shiny finish.

Deepest Desire is an olive green shimmer with gold undertones indoors. Outdoors it transforms into a gorgeous glowy golden bronze shimmer. The formula was smooth as butter but it has an almost metallic finish so be wary of brushstrokes. Below is two easy coats with top coat.

Dolled Up is a milky neutral base with medium red, blue, and yellow hexagon glitters and small red hexagon glitters indoors. Outdoors it transforms into a deep wine red. The glitters are less pronounced in the deeper color but still quite noticeable. Again, because it's a glitter it's a bit tricky to apply, just remember to take your time and you'll have no problems. Below is two coats of Dolled Up, one applied normally for the base color, and the second dabbed on for the glitter coverage. I've also used two thick coats of top coat for a smooth finish.

In Your Dreams is a sweet light blue creme indoors. Outdoors it transforms into a bright navy blue... does that even make sense? LOL The formula is fantastic, creamy and smooth. Below is two easy coats with top coat.

Kitten Heels has to be my favorite out of the bunch... why? Well because it's bright pink of course!! ;) Indoors Kitten Heels is a gorgeous insanely bright pink creme. Outdoors it is supposedly supposed to transform into a neon red color, my bottle doesn't seem to want to do this. Mine changes to a slightly darker bright pink which is still super gorgeous. Kitten Heels has the least radical change out of all of the collection but that's okay, it's still a favorite in my book. The formula was the same as In your Dreams, creamy and smooth as butter. Below is three thin coats with top coat.

Silk Sheets is a pretty light peach with a golden shimmer indoors. Outdoors it transforms into a darker, peach / coral shade with the same, albeit more pronounced, golden shimmer. Super pretty! The formula was smooth and easy to apply. Below is two coats with top coat.

I have to say I am totally loving these new shades! The collection is great and the names are creative and give it a sexy twist that I haven't seen in many brands ;) Will you be picking up any of these shades?

Ruby Wing Lacquer in Cinnamon Bun and Rose

Hi everyone!
press sample

Today I have two shades from Ruby Wing's fall 2013 collection Cupcakes and Champagne. Not only are they scented, but they're solar changing too! I've never really gotten into solar changing polished because I always thought that the change would be too subtle to notice but these polishes from Ruby Wing have totally proved me wrong! Ruby Wing polishes use SolarActive technology to change color in UV light and believe me it's definitely noticeable. ;) Because Ruby Wing uses this technology the polishes will transition out under the sun or under a blacklight.

Cinnamon Bun is a brown, rust colored duochrome foil polish that transitions to a very pretty dark purple-ish brown cinnamon shade. I never go for brown polishes but this one actually went with my skin tone quite well. Now I'll be the first to tell you that I don't like scented polishes... they are always too strong and end up giving me a huge headache. Cinnamon Bun has a very light cinnamon scent to it and while I would still prefer no scent, it didn't give me a headache and wasn't overpowering at all. The formula is smooth, a little sheer on the first coat but it builds up nicely. Swatched below is three coats and one coat of top coat, first photo is indoors and second photo is outdoors after the transition.

Rose is a sheer, soft pink glitter that transitions into a gorgeous berry pink shade. It has a pretty distinct floral scent, still not quite overpowering and definitely tolerable. The formula on this one was a little thick but that's to be expected with glitter polishes like these. Rose is too sheer to be worn alone so below I've layered two coats of rose over one coat of Azature White. Surprisingly I only needed one coat of top coat for a nice smooth finish. The first photo is indoors and the second photo is outdoors after the transition.

Ruby Wing retails for $10 for a 15ml bottle. If you want to purchase these colors or any Ruby Wing polishes you can do so at www.rubywing.com. You can also purchase their SolarActive polishes such as these from the website above or from the SolarActive website. Thanks cupcakes :)
