And so the journey begins...

Hey guys!

So I've got some news for you all today. I've realized that 2013 has been one of the most life changing years for me. It has been filled with quite a few sad and tragic events, but from the sadness I've grown stronger. It has also been filled with new beginnings, new love, new experiences, and a new outlook on life. I have decided to take control of my life and do something very special for myself, something that I have wanted to do for a very long time, even before this little old blog got started...

That's right I'm going to school to become a licensed nail tech!! :)

Nails have always been a passion of mine, I first fell in love when I was about 12 and my mom started painting my nails. Back then it was all pinks and reds and I loved them all! I lost sight of my dream through some of my teenage years where stress and the need to spend all of my time elsewhere took their toll and I began to bite my nails. My biting habit got very bad until I rediscovered my love for nail polish. It all started with me painting my nails just so I wouldn't bite them and it slowly turned into an obsession and well, here we are now. ;)

And now, because I think a post without pictures isn't very fun here's a cool little then and now. Sometimes I like to look back at the beginnings of this blog to see just how far I've come. :)

I've gone from this:

To this!

I've come so far and know there is so much farther to go! I can't wait to see where this blog is going to go. But it would be no where without you guys, I can't even begin to explain how happy I am to be a part of this nail polish community. You guys make me want to challenge myself and bring you great nail designs! So thank you all from the very bottom of my heart!

Thanks for listening to my rant ;) I can't wait to see what lies in my future, and you better believe it will involve nail polish!

But don't worry, just because I'm going back to school doesn't mean this blog will be forgotten! I could never forget you guys! My blogging schedule should continue on uninterrupted :)

How about you guys? What's your dream? :)

Black and white and blue all over

Hi dolls!

I hope you liked those glitter tips last time because I couldn't resist doing some more! I used to be so afraid to do anything that showed my natural nail because my nails are stained from all the polish I wear all the time. But ever since I found that unnamed sheer pink polish I'm afraid no more!! ;) This polish does such a great job making my nails look like they aren't stained. I could actually go almost all nakey nail here and I would be ok!

I started this manicure with two coats of the unnamed sheer pink polish. Once that was dry I used a make up sponger ripped in half and Color Club Over the Moon to create the faded tip. Then I used Hard Candy Black Tie Optional for the glitter. I love a good black and white glitter and this one is no exception! I finished with some Poshe top coat and I was good to go :)

I really love how the black and white glitter stands out against Color Club Over the Moon. This was really stunning in the sun too! I wish I got some sun pictures -_- But I suppose you'll have to use your imagination!

I love how clean a french mani can look and it's fun to try different color combos! What's your favorite color for a glitter tip manicure?

Water marble is my.... friend?

Hi cupcakes!

I've been having so much luck with water marbling lately I can't even believe it! Surely it will run out soon so I'm taking advantage of it as long as I can ;) Now I love me a good neon water marble... but there's something that I love even more... holographic water marble!!

I heard through the grapevine that the Color Club Halo Hues were good for marbling so I figured I'd test out just how true that rumor was... turns out its 100% true!

I started with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and used Color Club Kismet, Over the Moon, and Eternal Beauty for the marble on my middle, ring, and thumb. On my index I have two coats of Eternal Beauty and on my pinky I have two coats of Kismet.

What is with this blurriness?!?!?!

Holy rainbow!! Now these were super cool! The only thing that made me sad was that the marble kind of disappeared when the sun hit them... but it's ok I suppose because I mean just look at that rainbow!! ;)

I'm still holding on to the last threads of summer, wearing my neons and holos as much as I can ;) What do you do to remind yourself of sweet summertime?

Thanks dolls!

Mish Mash Challenge: Hot

Hello cupcakes!

Are you ready for another Mish Mash Challenge day?! I am! Today's theme is hot and I wanted to come up with something fun and bounced between a few different ideas. At first I wanted to do some fire nails but I've done those before and I really wanted to do something new. Then I wanted to do a thermomenter that went across all of my nails but my index nail isn't straight so those kind of designs don't look good on my nails -_- Finally I thought, "eggs frying on the pavement!!!" LOL Why not right?

I decided to run with this idea and surprisingly it was pretty simple to do.

I started with a base of Color Club Beyond on all of my nails. Then I took white, light grey, yellow, and orange-yellow acrylic paints to paint on the eggs. On my thumb I used red, orange, and yellow acrylic paint to create the word 'hot'. I finished off with some Poshe and this design was all done!

I want to start getting more creative with my photos... I just always love how some bloggers get so fun with their pictures! So hey... egg nails.... egg photo... why not? LOL

Ehhh photos could use some more work lol! Any suggestions on how to get creative with my pictures?

Anyways, I'm pretty proud of these nails because they are so much fun!!
What do you guys think?

Don't forget to check out everyone else's designs I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

SPLAT!

Hello cupcakes!

I've got a super fun manicure for you guys today. A little while back I did some nails for the Mish Mash challenge that I'm participating it. The theme was a nail art technique you've never tried before. I decided to try some water spotted nails, and while frustrating, the effect was pretty cool. The design I did for the challenge was turquoise nails... and while I was doing these I came up with a new idea. What about some neon water spotted nails??

I started off with a base of Azature White. When that was dry I taped off my nails and used the water spotted technique that I mentioned in my previous post using China Glaze Pool Party, China Glaze Orange Knockout, China Glaze Sun-Kissed, China Glaze I'm With the Lifeguard, and Nina Ultra Pro Blue Blaze. And finally I top coated with Poshe.

And just because I love it, I mattified the mani with NYC Matte Me Crazy.

I was afraid at first that the colors would get all muddy and blend together but I was so happy to find that they didn't. I love how bright it turned out and surprisingly it really didn't take me too long... probably around an hour and a half from start to finish.

What do you guys think?

Ruby Wing Lacquer in Cinnamon Bun and Rose

Hi everyone!
press sample

Today I have two shades from Ruby Wing's fall 2013 collection Cupcakes and Champagne. Not only are they scented, but they're solar changing too! I've never really gotten into solar changing polished because I always thought that the change would be too subtle to notice but these polishes from Ruby Wing have totally proved me wrong! Ruby Wing polishes use SolarActive technology to change color in UV light and believe me it's definitely noticeable. ;) Because Ruby Wing uses this technology the polishes will transition out under the sun or under a blacklight.

Cinnamon Bun is a brown, rust colored duochrome foil polish that transitions to a very pretty dark purple-ish brown cinnamon shade. I never go for brown polishes but this one actually went with my skin tone quite well. Now I'll be the first to tell you that I don't like scented polishes... they are always too strong and end up giving me a huge headache. Cinnamon Bun has a very light cinnamon scent to it and while I would still prefer no scent, it didn't give me a headache and wasn't overpowering at all. The formula is smooth, a little sheer on the first coat but it builds up nicely. Swatched below is three coats and one coat of top coat, first photo is indoors and second photo is outdoors after the transition.

Rose is a sheer, soft pink glitter that transitions into a gorgeous berry pink shade. It has a pretty distinct floral scent, still not quite overpowering and definitely tolerable. The formula on this one was a little thick but that's to be expected with glitter polishes like these. Rose is too sheer to be worn alone so below I've layered two coats of rose over one coat of Azature White. Surprisingly I only needed one coat of top coat for a nice smooth finish. The first photo is indoors and the second photo is outdoors after the transition.

Ruby Wing retails for $10 for a 15ml bottle. If you want to purchase these colors or any Ruby Wing polishes you can do so at www.rubywing.com. You can also purchase their SolarActive polishes such as these from the website above or from the SolarActive website. Thanks cupcakes :)

Color Club Nail Lacquer in Wicker Park and Pearl District

Hi lovlies
press sample

I've got two polishes from Color Club's fall 2013 collection Girl About Town to share with you. I'm really enjoying this collection and it's fun because they are throwing in some unexpected shades like the first one I have to share with you.

Wicker Park is a beautiful creamy lavender polish, not quite pastel, but pretty darn close. This shade doesn't quite remind me of fall but it's such a beautiful color that it doesn't matter. ;) The formula on this one was so smooth and my swatches below are two easy coats with one coat  of top coat.

Pearl District is a honey gold with a slight green tinge. It has been described as a tiger eye shade and I really couldn't describe it better then that. Looking at the bottle I thought I wouldn't like this shade but I was happy to find myself wrong because I love it on my nails! It's a really unique and beautiful shade. The formula was perfect, slightly sheer on the first coat but built up nicely. Swatched below is three coats with one coat of top coat.

Color Club retails for $8 for a 15ml bottle. They also have some combo packs, you can actually buy both of these for $12. You can buy polishes from this collection, and any other collection here at www.shopcolorclub.com. Don't forget to keep up with their new products and collections by following them on facebook, twitter, pinterest, and youtube.

What do you guys think? Will you be picking up any polishes from Color Club's Girl About Town fall 2013 collection?
Thanks so much!! :)
