The Fickle French

I usually love french manicures SO MUCH! 

Except for this one...

UGH! 

I had such high hopes for this cute mani and it just fell flat for me :( The idea was great but the execution... definitely needed more work. Well, OH WELL! I thought I'd show you guys anyways! YOLO right? ;) 

I started with a base of OPI Bubble Bath. Then I created the french tips using Stick It! Nail Vinyls Half Moon Vinyls and Mundo De Unas White. Then I stamped over the ring finger using Mundo De Unas Hot Pink, my Clear Jelly Stamper, and Bundle Monster Plate BM-H18. I sealed it all in with some Seche Vite and that was it!

I will most defintely revisit this mani one day.... some day anyways ;) But I still think its kinda cute :) What do you guys think?

Midnight Tips

There's something about winter that always makes me reach for a blue polish. Maybe because I associate blue with cold, or maybe because I just like the color blue. Whatever it is I love creating manicures with some blue in them like this pretty duo below! Wanna take a look?

I started out with a super secret polish from The Little LacquerBean, details to emerge soon! ;)  When it was dry I used some hole reinforcement stickers and placed them near the free edge of my nails. Then I used Sally Hansen Silver Sweep and painted over the exposed part. I peeled off the stickers, cleaned up, and top coated with some Seche Vite. 

I love the simplicity to this manicure, it makes it feel so clean. And this blue is just yummy! I usually find myself reaching for lighter blues but every once in a while a deep mysterious blue is just what I need!

The Sideways Frech

I've been hearing of a trend going around lately... actually for a while now called the "sideways french", at least I think that's what it's called LOL. The idea is that of a french manicure except flipped on it's side. The idea has intrigued me quite a bit but I never really thought it was a design for me. Well... I take it back. I decided to try it out a little while ago and I was totally wrong, I actually really love it! 

I went with a classic red / black combo and the result is.... well check it out for yourself ;) 

I started with a base of OPI Big Apple Red. When it was dry I freehanded the black using Wet n Wild Black Creme. I top coated everything with Essie Good To Go and the design was finished.

This look was so simple, yet so striking! And it was so super easy to create, I think the whole manicure took me like 30 minutes. I'm definitely going to be trying out this design again!

Pink Leopard Birthday Nails

It's my birthday!!! Woohoo!!

To be honest, I wasn't really excited about my birthday this year... which is weird because I'm like a freak about it usually. I suppose I don't want to get any older, not that 23 is old by any means, but you know what I mean. The good news is though, I'm excited now! Birthdays are so much fun, and even though I don't want to get older, I do want to enjoy the day. 

Every year on my birthday I try to get down to Cape Cod in Massachusetts because it's one of my absolute favorite places to be and thankfully we're having good weather this year so I can go again!

But let's get down to the important stuff... my birthday nails! I wanted to do something that represented me and was something that I loved. What better answer then my favorite white french manicure with my favorite neon pink leopard spots and my favorite holographic top coat?! Nothing that's what ;) 

I started off with my french tips using Essie Blanc on all of my nails except my ring and I cleaned up the smile line with my clean up brush dipped in acetone. When that was dry I added two layers of OPI Bubble Bath and then added my spots using China Glaze Pool Party. I outlined my leopard spots with some black acrylic paint and sealed it in with Essie Good To Go. For my ring I did three layers of China Glaze Pool Party, I probably should have used white as a base but I wasn't really sure where this nail was going ;) When that dried I added my favorite holographic top coat, HITS Hefesto. To finish it off I added two black dots with black acrylic paint and sealed it in with Essie Good To Go. 

I wasn't sure how these nails were going to turn out because I didn't really have a concrete idea in my head as I was creating them but I actually really love them! They are a combination of some of my favorite things and I think they are perfect for my birthday nails.

A Patriotic French

I did two different designs to show you guys for Memorial Day but as you know I forgot to post them -_- I won't let that stop me though! 

You've already seen my red, white, and blue watermarble and today I have a simple french with a patriotic flair. 

There's nothing quite as refreshing as a clean and crisp french manicure and they're so easy to spice up! I started this design by creating my white tips using Essie Blanc and a clean up brush dipped in acetone to clean up the smile line. When that dried I layered OPI Bubble Bath over everything. I then created the dots using China Glaze Just Be-Claws and So Blue With Out You. I layered China Glaze Fairy Dust over the top for a pretty sparkle! I sealed everything in with some Poshe and the design was finished.

Now that my nails have finally started getting some length again I'm really loving the way french manicures look!

So fresh, so clean!

I've decided that the new year is the time to take on some new challenges and make some changes. You know, new year, new me ;)

Among some of the changes and challenges I'm going to be doing I think it's about time for another nail polish challenge. I love doing challenges because it really gets my creative juices flowing, I find it especially helpful when I'm feeling decidedly uninspired. This challenge is pretty laid back which I'm excited about and it was created by @californails on instagram. The first day of the challenge was actually yesterday but hey, better late then never! 

Anyways the first challenge is fresh. Whenever I think of fresh I think of mint so I knew I wanted to incorporate it in my mani somehow. Other then that though I struggled coming up with an idea for this one and then it hit me, what's fresher then a old school white french manicure?! 

I started this design by painting the tips of my nails with OPI Alpine Snow. Then I cleaned up the smile line with a cleanup brush and some acetone. After everything was dry I layered two coats of OPI Bubble Bath and then I added three dots of Orly Gumdrop up the side of each nail. To finish the design up I added some Poshe for top coat to give it that super shiny look!

Countdown to Midnight: Leopard Sparkle

Happy 2 days after Christmas! 

I hope Santa was good to all of you! What was your favorite present? Mine has to be the black sequin UGG boots my grammy got me! But my favorite part of the day? Seeing my boyfriend almost cry from the gifts myself and my family got him because he's never had a big Christmas like we like to do. It made all of the money spent worth it. But shhhhhh don't tell anyone, he's still my manly man ;)

Now that Christmas is over though it's time to get ready to bring in the new year! I've done the first of a few New Year's themed manis to get you guys in the party mood and I've titled them 'Countdown to Midnight'. My first design is a fun sparkly leopard french perfect for adding that extra pizzazz to any New Year's outfit! I started with a base of OPI Bubble Bath to get rid of most of the staining on my nails. Then I created the french using OPI This Gown Needs A Crown. When it was dry I created the leopard print using China Glaze Harvest Moon and outlined it with Wet'n'Wild Black Creme. Some Poshe on top and you're good to go!

I love spicing up simple manis and honestly if you add sparkle to anything I'm going to love it!

Princess Pointers

Good morning lovelies!

So here's the thing, my mom seems to have an unhealthy obsession with pintrest ;) LOL just kidding but really she loves that site. She's always looking at nail designs she likes and she found one that she wanted me to do for her the other day. THIS is the photo that she pinned from the lovely A Polish Addict. We changed up the colors a bit and I'm so happy because it gave me a chance to use my new Lime Crime's again woohoo!! :) Take a look!

These are so girly and adorable I just love them! The pictures don't even do them justice in real life they were SO bright! I wish I had put some little rhinestones on them though.... next time right? :)

The Lazy 15: Gradient

Good morning all my lovely readers :)

Today is the second installment of The Lazy 15 and it's my favorite: gradients! It's no secret that I'm obsessed with gradients. You can get such a beautiful mani that looks difficult to do but it really isn't. But what might be surprising is that I didn't really like the way this gradient came out :( In person though, I did like it but when I photographed it you can't even really tell its a gradient :( I tried to do a gradient french and because the colors were so close together my camera had a hard time distinguishing them. *sigh* I tried to edit it so that you guys can see how pretty it really was but you've gotta look kind of hard so I'm sorry :( But take a look anyways!! :)

It really was pretty I wish you guys could see it better :( Oh well it is what it is ;) There will be more gradients on here soon enough to make up for this one!!
