Hi cupcakes!
It's Wednesday so you know what that means right?! Another challenge day for the Mish Mash Challenge hosted by Kimber's Lacquer Korner. :) Today's challenge day theme is metallic. I know exactly what you guys are going to say when you see mine... "another tape mani really?" But hey I didn't know what else to do! And I always love how tape manicures end up so... deal with it yo! ;)
Anyways, I don't actually own very mani metallic polishes because I don't like them. I don't like being able to see brush strokes and generally I'm just not a big fan of the way they look. But I do have a few and decided to go with a gold, silver, bronze look here.
To start off I painted all of my nails with Sally Hansen InstaDri Silver Sweep. Then I taped off my nails and painted with Maybelline Color Show Bold Gold and ELF Copper. After that I took all three colors and free handed some more triangles on the sides and inside the other ones. Then I used NCY Matte Me Crazy because I like the way metallics look mattified better and added a rhinestone to each and I was done!
What do you think? I'm so iffy on metallics but I actually kind of liked how these turned out! I think the matte top coat made me like it more too it made the brush strokes less visible in my opinion.
I can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with don't forget to check them out!
Thanks guys :)
I love this! I think you did a great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Amy!! :)
DeleteI really like this - that copper polish you used gives it an extra sparkle that still shows up even with the matte topcoat. Really nice job on the free-handing too, by the way.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! :) I was actually very surprised with the copper polish because I haven't used it before but I'm glad I chose it! You are so nice! :)
DeleteThis was cute :P
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! :)

DeleteThis looks neat, Kristine! I am not a huge fan of metallics, but they have this little something that can make the difference in a manicure :) The matte look is a win for me too, it makes it look even neater!
ReplyDeleteWow thanks so much for your kind words! I do agree I think the matte is what made me like it more! You are so sweet! :)
DeleteWhat a great way to combine those colors! Love the design and the rhinestones you added! :)

DeleteDang girl!! This is fabulous!! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I have just one question, if we all hate metallic, who picked this theme????
Aw thanks so much girl!!!! :)
DeleteAnd lol right?? But I think whoever chose the theme wanted us to go out of our comfort zone ya know? I'm glad cuz if it weren't for this challenge I would have never picked up these metallics ;) lol!
And it is FABULOUS! Love that you thought outside the box and went with a mattified metallic. Brilliant. The taping, freehand are so well-executed, and your palette of colors? Girl, you done GOOOOOD. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are SO SWEET lady!! :) thanks for making me smile this morning lol!!
DeleteThis turned out beautiful! I do second Dionne's question, cuz it seems like no one's really a fan of metallics...your mani is making me rethink that though. Mattified, they're really quite pretty!
ReplyDeleteAww really?! I'm glad I can change someone's mind on metallics even if I can't change my own ;) lol! Thank you so very much Natalie! :)
